BGC TO HOST 2017 MAINE AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP!

We are thrilled to announce that for the second time in our club's history, for the first time in 20 years, and to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the MSGA, Brunswick Golf Club is hosting the 2017 Maine Amateur Championship! Being held on July 11-13, BGC will present a true test to our state's best amateur golfers, all vying for the title of Amateur Champion. Last played here in 1997 (won by Maine golf legend Mark Plummer), the 98th playing of this prestigous event is coming back to one of the MSGA's founding golf clubs. Organized by our own Charles S. "Pop" Erswell back in 1917, the Maine State Golf Association hits the century mark this season and what better way to commemorate the benchmark than by crowning this year's state champion golfer on the famous 9th green here at Brunswick Golf Club? 2017 CLUB IMPROVEMENTS HIGHLIGHTED BY CLEAR TEE SHOT ON #10, NEW TEE ON #11.

The Brunswick Golf Club continues to be committed to improving the entire golf facility each year, and 2017 is no exception for capital improvements. Last fall, Superintendent Allan Greenleaf and his crew cleared trees along the 10th hole allowing for a more inviting tee shot on the back nine's opening hole. They also built a beautiful new additional tee area on the 11th hole, which will hopefully open up by mid-summer and allow the crew to level the old tee box while offering various areas to tee off the long downhill par 3. The new tee box for championship play will now play over 200 yards! The clubhouse also added 8 state-of-the-art heat pumps this season, which will offer both heating and cooling for patrons and functions throughout the spring, summer and fall!
