JACK WYMAN WINS 2017 MAINE AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP AT BGC!

Portland Country Club's Jack Wyman became the first left-handed Maine Amateur Champion ever when he defeated Deer Isle's Sam Grindle by two shots to win the 2017 Maine Amateur Championship here at Brunswick Golf Club. Wyman flirted with Andy Fournier's championship tee (66) and Jack Harkins overall low (64) course record in Round 2 when he shot a 29 on the first side (back nine) before finishing with an impressive 68. Wyman was very complimentary of the course conditions and the club as a welcoming host, as were many of the 132 fellow competitors. Brunswick's own Derek Devereaux made the cut after firing a 73 in Round 2, while Nate McCue shot an impressive 70 in the first round to claim the lowest round by a member during the championship. Brunswick Golf Club would like to thank the MSGA for working so well with us and being so appreciative of our efforts during the week. An extra special thanks goes out to our members who helped make the event so successful!

2017 CLUB IMPROVEMENTS HIGHLIGHTED BY CLEAR TEE SHOT ON #10, NEW TEE ON #11.

The Brunswick Golf Club continues to be committed to improving the entire golf facility each year, and 2017 is no exception for capital improvements. Last fall, Superintendent Allan Greenleaf and his crew cleared trees along the 10th hole allowing for a more inviting tee shot on the back nine's opening hole. They also built a beautiful new additional tee area on the 11th hole, which will hopefully open up by mid-summer and allow the crew to level the old tee box while offering various areas to tee off the long downhill par 3. The new tee box for championship play will now play over 200 yards! The clubhouse also added 8 state-of-the-art heat pumps this season, which will offer both heating and cooling for patrons and functions throughout the spring, summer and fall!
